Elena Rybakina shockingly parting ways with Goran Ivanisveic after the 2025 Australian Open has sparked discussions among tennis fans. The Kazakh's former coach Stefano Vukov's reinstatement in her team has stirred a huge controversy in the tennis world and many fans have speculated about it being the reason why the Croat decided to see himself out.
Rybakina and Ivanisevic announced their blockbuster partnership in November last year. The Kazakh was coming off a controversial partnership with her ex-coach Vukov which ended right before the 2024 US Open while the Croat's highly successful partnership with Novak Djokovic had ended earlier in the year.
However, in a strange turn of events, Elena Rybakina rehired Vukov in her team adding fire to the already heated controversy and many fans predicting Ivanisevics' departure in the near future.
Interestingly, after the World No. 7's shocking fourth-round exit at the Australian Open to Madison Keys, Goran Ivanisveic announced via Instagram:
"After our trial period that finished with Australian Open, I wish Elena and her team best of luck moving forward."
Fans have expressed disappointment with the end of the exciting partnership on X (formerly Twitter). One fan opined Elena Rybakina's relationship with Stefano Vukov was harming her professional career.
"Her relationship (personal or professional) with Vukov is ruining his career. I feel very sorry for Elena, because she is one of the most talented players of her generation," the fan opined.
Another fan felt Ivanisevic made the correct decision.
"Good for Goran, he doesn’t need to be part of that mess," the fan felt.
Here are some other reactions from tennis fans.
"No way he jumped ship that quickly clearly somethings going on privately in her coaching team that he doesn’t want to deal with," a fan thought.
"Doomed from the beginning. Love Elena but I am happy for Goran. He does not need or deserve to be embroiled in this telanovela. She obviously wants her old coach back. Goran is an elite ex-player, Grand slam winner and excellent coach. He will be fine," a fan said.
"Being Rybakina fan is like volunteering for constant pain. No good news ever," a fan quipped.
"Thank goodness goran left the toxic group," a fan mentioned.
"I spoke to Elena Rybakina, I told her what I think" - Goran Ivanisevic on Kazakh's decision to rehire Stefano Vukov
Goran Ivanisevic had opened up about Elena Rybakina's decision to rehire Stefano Vukov earlier in the month. Vukov is banned by the WTA due to an ongoing investigation following a breach of the tour's Code of Conduct.
A report by the Athletic stated that Ivaisevic was 'blindsided' by Rybakina's decision to rehire Vukov and when asked about his thoughts, the Croat didn't address the situation publicly but mentioned he had had a word with the 25-year-old.
"Listen, the investigation is still on, so we wait for WTA to finish, and then I can talk about everything," Ivanisevic said to Ben Rothenberg's Bounces. "But until then… I spoke to Elena; I told her what I think."
Elena Rybakina has yet to make a statement on her split with Goran Ivanisevic. However, she had expressed her disappointment about not getting to have Steafan Vukov in her box during the Australian Open.
