The Kazakh has been soaking in the sights and sounds of Australia ever since she arrived in the land Down Under. Last week, she broke the internet when she posed for a selfie with a quokka at the Rottnest Islands in Western Australia. Known as the “happiest animal in the world," the adorable marsupials are only found in a few isolated forests and small islands in Australia.

Elena Rybakina is leading Kazakhstan's charge at the mixed-team "United Cup." The team has qualified for the semifinals after defeating a German team playing without the injured world No. 2 Alexander Zverev.

Elena Rybakina, who was ranked as high as No. 3 in the world in 2023, has slipped down to No. 6 after a 2024 season marked by illnesses. However, she did manage to win three titles on the tour - at Brisbane, Abu Dhabi and Stuttgart.

Her best showing at a Grand Slam came at Wimbledon, where she made the semifinals. Rybakina will work with 2001 Wimbledon champion and Novak Djokovic's former coach Goran Ivanisevic in the 2025 season.

Speaking during a press conference at the United Cup, she said about her partnership with the Croat:

"Not much time has passed but I’m already getting experience from him, especially as a player, how he used to prepare. I’m learning every day, I’m feeling much better physically."

On Wednesday, she announced that she has re-hired her former coach Stefano Vukov, just four months after parting ways.

"I am excited to announce that Stefano will be joining the team for the 2025 season," she said in a statement. "Thank you all for the support And wishing you a great 2025."

At last year's Australian Open, the Kazakh was ousted in the second round by Anna Blinkova. Notably, the match featured the longest tie-break in Grand Slam history.
