Former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina will take on World No. 14 Madison Keys in the fourth round of the Australian Open 2025 on Monday, January 20. The Kazakh has made it this far without conceding a single set. She beat home hope Emerson Jones 6-1, 6-1 in the first round, and followed it up with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Iva Jovic.

Rybakina faced last year's semifinalist in Melbourne, Dayana Yastremska, in the third round and beat her 6-3, 6-4. However, she did have an injury scare at the start of the match, and had to take a medical timeout to get her back checked out. While she was able to soldier on through this match, it doesn't bode well for her future in the tournament.

Keys kicked off her run at the Australian Open with a 6-4, 7-5 win over compatriot Ann Li. She was challenged by Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the second round and earned a hard fought 7-6 (1), 2-6, 7-5 win over her. She was up against fellow American Danielle Collins in the third round, and beat her 6-4, 6-4.

Keys has reached the fourth round here for the sixth time, and improved her record to 30-10 with her latest win. She's a two-time semifinalist at the venue. Rybakina, on the other hand, has progressed to the fourth round in Melbourne for the second time following her runner-up finish in 2023, and now has a 14-5 record here.

The two have split their previous four meetings evenly to tie the head-to-head at 2-2. Keys won their first couple of matches at the French Open and the Cincinnati Open in 2022. Rybakina snapped the losing streak with a win at the Ostrava Open later that year, and then won their most recent encounter at last year's Miami Open in straight sets.
