British tennis player Emma Raducanu was spotted in her weekend practice sessions on Sunday (Nov 10). This comes just a few days before her team, Great Britain, faces Germany at the 2024 Billie Jean King (BJK) Cup.
The BJK event in Malaga will be the Brit's first tennis tournament in three months. She last competed at the Korea Open in September, where she reached the quarterfinals. However, Raducanu's injury during her clash against Daria Kasatkina led to her withdrawal from the tournament.
The 21-year-old took to her Instagram stories to share glimpses of her weekend practice session. The Brit could be seen practicing some impressive and accurate serves during her training.
Raducanu's team at the 2024 BJK Cup will consist of Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, Heather Watson, and Olivia Nicholls. Raducanu produced some impressive performances during Great Britain's qualification match against France. She defeated Caroline Garcia and Diane Parry both in three sets as Great Britain won the round 3-1.
Former World No.2 Conchita Martinez opens up about her viewpoint regarding Emma Raducanu at the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup
Former World No.2 Conchita Martinez has shared her viewpoint regarding Emma Raducanu's presence at the 2024 BJK Cup Finals. Martinez has been part of the Billie Jean King Cup, then known as Fed Cup, winning teams five times across her career (1991, 1993-95, 1998).
She stated that Raducanu is one of the best and most reliable players for the Great Britain side. She also mentioned that the Brit plays very passionately when she competes for her country. She said (via Tennis World USA):
"For any team, you want to have your best players, and Emma, we have seen she can play amazing tennis. She’s one of the best tennis players out there with great results. It’s great that Great Britain can count on her and I think that when she’s played before, she’s passionate for her country. I think it’s going to be great."
In the 2024 season, Raducanu has failed to clinch a single WTA title. In the Grand Slams too this season, Raducanu's performances have remained a bit on the lower side. The former WTA No. 10's best Grand Slam finish this season came at Wimbledon where she reached the RO16.
