The start of the Australian Open is right around the corner and several tennis stars have made their way to Melbourne. Iga Swiatek, Frances Tiafoe, and Emma Raducanu, among others, are already training at Melbourne Park ahead of the start of the first Grand Slam of the season.

This year's edition of the Australian Open will start on January 12 and the final match of the tournament will take place on January 26. Swiatek, Tiafoe and all the players who are already hard at work in Australia are all after the same goal: making a name for themselves in Grand Slam history.

Swiatek is looking to win her sixth Grand Slam title at this year's edition of the Australian Open. The Polish star has won four Roland Garros titles and one U.S. Open.

Swiatek had yet another remarkable season last year, winning titles at the Qatar Open, Indian Wells, Madrid, Rome, and the French Open. If Swiatek wins the first Grand Slam of the year in Melbourne, she will surpass Maria Sharapova when it comes to Major titles, with whom she's currently tied.

Here's a look at some of the other stars currently Down Under for the Australian Open:

Frances Tiafoe is still chasing his first Grand Slam trophy. While the American has not yet won a Major title, Tiafoe performs better in tournaments that take place on hardcourts.

Other male players who will be attempting to make history this month include Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, and Taylor Fritz.

Who are the defending champions at the 2025 Australian Open?

This year's edition of the Australian Open will see both the men's and women's defending champions participate to defend their titles. Jannik Sinner won the men's tournament last year before going on to dominate the circuit in what would become the best season of his career.

The Italian's victory at Melbourne Park was followed by titles at the Miami Open, the U.S. Open, and the ATP Finals title along with 4 other trophies. If Sinner wins yet another Australian Open title, the victory would give the Italian superstar his third Grand Slam trophy and his second one at Melbourne Park.

Aryna Sabalenka is the two-time defending Australian Open champion on the WTA tour. Sabalenka had an impressive season last year with two Grand Slam wins (the Australian Open and US Open) and two title wins at the Cincinnati Masters and the Wuhan Open.

The 2025 season has kicked off with a bang for Sabalenka with the Belarusian winning the Brisbane International earlier this month.
