Katie Boulter and boyfriend Alex de Minaur to begin the 2025 season as oppositions during the United Cup
Katie Boulter will represent Great Britain, while Alex de Minaur will compete for Australia at the upcoming United Cup. In a fascinating twist for the couple, they have been drawn into the same group again, meaning they will face off against each other in the event’s group stages.
Last year, Great Britain and Australia faced off in the United Cup, but although Boulter played in the mixed singles, De Minaur didn’t, so they didn’t compete directly. This time, with both players drawn into the same group again, there's a chance they could face each other on the court.
Boulter said she wasn’t "thrilled," acknowledging the challenge of playing against her partner, a top 10 player.
"I wouldn't say that I was thrilled at the idea of playing him all over again. He's a top 10 player and he knows how to play tennis so there is one side of it, there is a personal side of it as well which is difficult but also great for bragging rights," she told Sky Sports.
De Minaur, reflecting on their upcoming encounter, called it "surreal" to be in the same situation again but hoped they would both deliver great tennis.
