Emma Raducanu next tournament: Where is Brit playing after Australian Open exit?

Emma Raducanu commenced her 2025 season at the Australian Open, where she suffered a third-round exit. With her campaign Down Under coming to a close, the Brit has announced where she will compete next this year.

Raducanu was expected to start off the year at the ASB Classic. However, she withdrew from the WTA 250 event, citing a back problem. In Melbourne, the Brit secured a hard-fought 7-6(4), 7-6(2) win over Ekaterina Alexandrova in the opener. She then defeated Amanda Anisimova, 6-3, 7-5, before falling to Iga Swiatek, 1-6, 0-6, in the third round.

Following her Australian Open exit, Raducanu will now gear up for the Singapore Open. The WTA 250 event's main draw will commence on January 27. The field will include 32 players, including six qualifiers and four wildcards.

Raducanu's projected seeding is six in the tournament. She will be joined by Anna Kalinskaya, Elise Mertens, Wang Xinyu, Polina Kudermetova, and Alycia Parks, to name a few. It is after six years that Singapore will host a WTA Tour event, with the last tournament held here being the WTA Finals in 2018.

Raducanu has been trophyless since winning the 2021 US Open and had an average season last year. However, the signs have been encouraging so far this year. She defeated two players inside the top 40 and only lost to five-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek in Melbourne. It is to be seen how well the Brit will perform in the indoor hardcourts of the Kallang Tennis Centre in Singapore.

Emma Raducanu remained firm on giving "no excuse" for her Australian Open third-round loss to Iga Swiatek.

During a recent press conference, Raducanu admitted that her loss had nothing to do with her back problem or any other physical limitations. While she acknowledged Swiatek's performance, the Brit stated that she needed to work on herself after receiving the necessary feedback.

"I think, today, no excuses of the back or physically. Yeah, I just didn't play well. She played very well, and I think, given the preparation we had, we have to be grateful to be in this position. But ofcourse, I have a lot of things to take as feedback and work on," Raducanu said.

Raducanu also reflected on the positives from her campaign in Melbourne, as she was content with how well she handled herself ahead of the tournament with injury problems.

"I think the biggest positive I would say is how I've approached every single day, before the tournament, in tricky situations. With Auckland and the back, and how I handled myself going into the tournament not necessarily the most prepared," she added.

Emma Raducanu's third-round finish this season is her best result so far at the Australian Open. She suffered second-round exits in all her previous campaigns (2022-2024).
