Emma Raducanu gave her fans a sneak peek into her preparation for the 2025 Australian Open with a sun-kissed selfie after a grueling training session. The British tennis star will be in action on January 13 as she takes on 26th-seeded Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova in the opening round.

With two days to go for the match, Raducanu took to her Instagram story to share a photo of her shadow while walking in the Melbourne sun with the song "Riptide" by Australian singer Vance Joy playing, captioning it:

Injuries have plagued Raducanu's career over the last few years. She survived a scare right before the Australian Open when she was forced to pull out of the Auckland Open after hurting her lower back. She recovered in time to be fit for the Melbourne Major.

Emma Raducanu's new fitness regimen

Emma Raducanu made a major change entering the 2025 season by roping in renowned strength and conditioning coach Yutaka Nakamura. The Japanese coach was tasked with enhancing her fitness regimen and reducing her risk of injury, especially considering her injury-laden career.

Speaking at a media conference on Friday, Raducanu explained the difference Nakamura has brought about in her routine:

“I think having him in my camp has been a really good addition. He's helped me a lot just in terms of microdosing bits, the fitness here and there throughout the day, tapering and managing my loads. I'm someone who is always going to want to push more, train more, do more. Sometimes actually having him to adapt the exercises or pull me back has been helpful.”

Nakamura is a familiar face on the tennis circuit and has worked with top players including Naomi Osaka and Maria Sharapova, which Raducanu considers a big advantage.

“He's also a really committed person, someone who is quite reliable as well. Every day I know that there's not going to be any major surprises coming my way. He's just been obviously with a lot of experienced and top players. So having that and his belief and confidence in me has helped a lot,” she added.

Yesterday, Raducanu shared a photo on Instagram of Nakamura standing beside Sharapova's winner plaque at the Australian Open.
