"Epic" - Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian amused as US cricket team stuns Pakistan in T20 WC with help from Oracle engineer Saurabh Netravalkar

Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian recently lavished praise on Saurabh Netravalkar, a software Engineer and USA cricket team player. Netravalkar's heroics proved to be a difference-maker for the hosts as they stumped Pakistan in the men's T20 World Cup on June 6.

The 32-year-old Oracle employee was crucial for his side as they upset Pakistan in a super over as the scores were tied after the stipulated 20 overs. Pakistan needed 19 runs in the super over but had to settle for just 13 and hence lost the match to the co-hosts.

The stupendous performance earned Netravalkar many fans overnight, one of them being tennis great Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian. The Reddit co-founder replied to a post on X (formerly Twitter) about the upset produced by the USA's team, writing:

"Epic offseason."

Ohanian said that he liked celebrating American teams' sporting excellence, especially when they happen in his industry.

"It's so dope! I love celebrating American sports excellence — especially when they happen to be in my industry, too," he wrote.

He is also an investor in the NWSL franchise, Angel City FC, along with his wife. The Reddit co-founder has also invested in a golf franchise, Los Angeles Golf Club, along with the Williams sisters.

Ohanian recently launched a track and field event for women in partnership with Olympic medalist Gabby Thomas. It promises the largest ever purse for a female-only event in track and field.

"Today I'm partnering with 2x Olympic medalist @itsgabbyt to announce The 776 Invitational, a first-of-its-kind track event bringing the fastest women in the world together to compete for the largest purse *ever* for a female-only track event," Ohanian wrote while announcing the event.

Ohanian said he wanted to increase competition, recognition, coverage, and opportunities for women track athletes.

"My goal is for this to become the flagship competition for women track athletes, increasing the visibility of track events and providing athletes with more competition, recognition, coverage, and opportunities for financial support. In other words: it's a game-changer," Ohanian wrote.
