Former WTA World No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard has taken a note from Kelly Kapoor, the hilarious character played by Mindy Kaling in "The Office", while formulating her resolution for 2025.
As per the post she shared from the account "vodkalana" on Instagram, the Canadian's resolution is a famous one-liner delivered by Kaling's character in the long-running mockumentary sitcom.
"My resolution is to get more attention," Kelly Kapoor had confidently remarked in Episode No. 13 of Season 7 (titled "Ultimatum") when asked to share her New Year's resolution.
The quirky quote quickly entered the popular lexicon and emerges as a meme each year around New Year festivities.
Meanwhile, Bouchard has been fully soaking in the festivities this year, and she captured several moments from her Christmas celebrations on her social media.
Just ahead of Christmas, the former Wimbledon finalist joined the "Meals in Heels" initiative led by social media influencer Alix Earle, which sought to give back to Miami's underserved communities.
Bouchard retains a massive following on social media, with over 2.3 million followers on Instagram alone.
Ever since starring in Canada's Billie Jean King Cup triumph in 2023, the 30-year-old's star has faded in tennis, where she has fallen out of the Top 1000 in the rankings.
Meanwhile, she has turned pro on the pickleball tour, and impressively moved up to No. 19 in the world. The Canadian is set to star in the high-profile Pickleball Slam 3 which will feature several tennis legends.
Eugenie Bouchard set to challenge for the Pickleball Slam crown
Tennis legends Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf are set to defend their Pickleball Slam title against Andy Roddick and Eugenie Bouchard next month.
Meanwhile, Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi have weighed in on their chances against the duo of Bouchard and Roddick. In a promotional clip for the upcoming event, Graf hoped that Bouchard's greater exposure to pickleball would not give her team too big an edge.
"Genie’s been really playing well this year, taking it professional. I think the jump from tennis into pickleball is not an easy transition, and doubles and mixed is so different from tennis, so it's a little harder. We're hoping she doesn't have too much of an edge there," Graf said in November 2024.
Agassi, on the other hand, praised Bouchard for successfully transitioning from tennis to pickleball. Bouchard responded by saying that she almost felt bad at having to beat Graf and Agassi due to their "nice" comments about her.
