Eugenie Bouchard has shared an update on the unfortunate injury she sustained while playing pickleball recently. The Canadian shared a glimpse of herself wearing dark sunglasses as her eye continued to recover from the incident.

Bouchard is gearing up for Pickleball Slam 3, scheduled to be held in Las Vegas on February 16, 2025. The Canadian will form a formidable partnership with Andy Roddick, taking on defending champions Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf at the highly anticipated event.

However, during a recent pickleball practice session, Eugenie Bouchard was struck directly in the eye by an errant ball. The 30-year-old had to be rushed to urgent care, where she was diagnosed with a scratched cornea and made to wear an eyepatch.

"Got hit in the eye with a pickleball during training today. It was a shank off my partner’s paddle straight into the eye 😵‍💫 Went to urgent care and have a scratched cornea. The things we do for this sport! 🥒 Will be healed in a matter of days 🫶🏼," Bouchard posted on X.

Bouchard recently thanked fans for their support and shared that while her eye remained painful, it was steadily improving. The Canadian also expressed relief that she no longer needed to wear an eyepatch, humorously remarking that her "pirate" days were over.

"Thank u for all the messages about my eye! it still hurts but has been improving. at least no more pirate genie," she posted on her Instagram story.

Alongside her preparations for Pickleball Slam 3, Eugenie Bouchard did not let the eye injury deter her from taking part in the Baha Mar Cup, a tennis fundraising event held in the Bahamas from December 12-15. The former World No. 5 was joined by Taylor Townsend, John McEnroe, and more at the event.

With Pickleball Slam 3 around the corner, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf recently shed light on their strategy for the blockbuster contest against Eugenie Bouchard and Andy Roddick in a promotional clip.

Acknowledging Bouchard's significant "advantage" due to her experience with professional pickleball, Agassi disclosed that he and Graf would avoid the Canadian and instead look to target Roddick.

"She has a great deal of experience competing in so many events to be able to control the best of herself in that environment so that’s gonna be a big advantage for her. It’s not going to feel unfamiliar to have pressure on the line and to keep herself calm and execute what she knows to do. That’s the big advantage for her," he said.
"I think the plan is to always go after the weakness so I think we’re going to play her as little as possible. We’re going to check Andy’s oil," he added.

Bouchard shared a hilarious reaction to the tennis power couple's strategy, playfully calling Andre Agassi out for being "scared."
