Emma Navarro thanked her father after booking her place in the US Open semifinals. However, some of the words the 23-year-old used did not go down well with fans.

Navarro reached her maiden Grand Slam semifinal after defeating an in-form Paula Badosa 6-2, 7-5 in the last eight. This is the American's third successive win over a seeded opponent at the US Open, having previously beaten defending champion Coco Gauff and 19th seed Marta Kostyuk.

After the match, Emma Navarro thanked her father Ben, who has a net worth of $1.5 billion according to Forbes, saying that he knew that she was "a bit ADHD or something" to be in a classroom or doing a 9-5 job.

“I wanna also thank my dad. I think he saw a vision from the time I was really young. He knew maybe I was a bit ADHD or something to be a sitting in a class room or a 9 to 5. He saw something in me from a young age. So thanks dad for sending me on this journey," Navarro said.

Several fans were far from happy with Emma Navarro's comments, with one fan saying that even Jessica Pegula, who is also the daughter of a billionaire, would not say something like that.

"Even Pegula doesn’t say s**t like this," the fan said.

Another fan called Navarro a "privileged rich white girl"

"Privileged, rich, white girl are we surprised," the fan commented.

Here are some more fan reactions:

"The casual mention of being "too ADHD to work a 9-5" pissed me the hell off," the fan said.
"I just hate her I can’t," one fan commented.
"Emma Navarro describing herself as a child as 'a little bit ADHD or something', can we not," the fan said.
"You are quite literally a multibillionaire, I promise a 9-5 was never in the cards at any point in time lmfao," one fan commented.

After beating Paula Badosa, Emma Navarro will next face either second seed Aryna Sabalenka or Zheng Qinwen in the US Open semifinals.

The American has faced both players before, having a 1-1 head-to-head record against Sabalenka. Navarro beat the Belarusian 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells before the latter beat her 6-2, 6-3 in the very same stage at the French Open.

Navarro, however, has lost both of her prior encounters against Zheng Qinwen. The first meeting between the two came in the quarterfinals of the Internazionali Femminili di Palermo, with the Chinese winning 6-4, 6-2. Their second match came in the third round of the Paris Olympics, and Zheng came back from a set down to win 6-7(7), 7-6(4), 6-1.
