Gauff is presently competing at the 2025 Australian Open, chasing her second Grand Slam title. The player started her campaign on a high note, carrying the USA to a second title at the United Cup. In Melbourne, she faces compatriot Sofia Kenin in the first round.

Coco Gauff revealed that she kept herself from being overwhelmed by the enormity of the occasion ahead of her US Open final. She did so by resorting to a late-night call with her boyfriend.

"Last night, I started (to get into my own head) a little bit, but honestly, I just called my boyfriend, and I told him let's talk until it's time to go to sleep so we spoke until 1:00 a.m. and then I went to sleep," she said in her press conference at the time.

In her interview with Vogue in 2024, Coco Gauff disclosed that her boyfriend is a “very nice guy.” Sharing rare insight into his identity, the World No. 3 said that he hails from her hometown, Atlanta, and plays the guitar.

"He’s a very nice guy. He’s in school now. He’s about to apply for music school. He wants to be an actor and he plays the guitar. He’s not from Delray. He’s actually from Atlanta," Gauff said.

The tennis player also revealed that her eagle-eyed fans had discovered the identity of her partner.

"I will say this: People on Twitter found him two or three days ago. I won’t respond and confirm if it’s him or not, but they caught me in the comments, so they know," she said.

Coco Gauff touches on being in her "first real relationship"

During a 2024 interview with Time magazine, she said she was in her “first real relationship.” The youngster revealed the beauty of her bond with her boyfriend.

"This is my first real relationship. To just have someone to talk to who is not involved in tennis at all gives me a fresh perspective," she said.

Coco Gauff's mother, Candi, too, approves of her partner. During the same interview, she shared her mother's words of advice when it comes to dating.

"My mom (Gauff's grandmother) always said, if they’re bad in school, they’re probably bad as adults. He’s always been a smart, nice kid," Gauff's mother Candi said.
