Daniil Medvedev received an early warning for unsportsmanlike conduct during his 2024 Wimbledon semifinal clash against Carlos Alcaraz on Friday, as the Russian swore at the chair umpire after a controversial call. The Russian's swearing was caught on camera, where he mouthed the phrase 'F**k you' at the umpire in anger.

Medvedev started off on the front foot in the opening set, taking an early 3-1 lead. The Russian consolidated on the break to go 5-2 up, only for the Spaniard to get one back.

Serving for the set at 5*-4, the World No. 5 was facing break point at 30*-40 when Alcaraz sent in a delicious drop shot. Although Medvedev rushed in from the baseline to reach the ball, chair umpire Eva Asderaki deemed that the ball had bounced twice and gave the game to Alcaraz.

At this, Daniil Medvedev was furious, and cursed at her. Asderaki, in turn, called the tournament supervisor to discuss his actions. Thankfully, Medvedev did not get defaulted from the match, and was let go with just a warning. A second offense, should it happen, will result in a point penalty, followich which another offense will lead to a game penalty.

Medvedev went on to take the set in a tiebreaker against the World No. 3 soon after, winning it 7-6(1) rather easily.

After taking the opening set, Daniil Medvedev failed to capitalize on the momentum, and went on to lose to Carlos Alcaraz in four sets in the semifinal of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The Spaniard took the next three sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to reach his second straight Wimbledon final.

Last year, the 21-year-old defeated Djokovic in the final to win his maiden ttile at the Grass Major. Medvedev, on the other hand, lost in the semifinals last year as well, losing to Alcaraz in straight sets. The Russian now trails him 2-5 in the head-to-head, and has lost their last three matches on the trot.

Alcaraz is next set to take on either 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic or Lorenzo Musetti in the final at SW19 on Sunday.

Victory in Sunday's final will see the World No. 3 become only the sixth man to complete the Channel Slam in the Open Era, following Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Djokovic.
