"Fake news" - Camila Giorgi clears the air about tax fraud accusations and sudden retirement, teases autobiography in multiple languages

Camila Giorgi recently cleared the air surrounding her sudden retirement and rumors of accusations of tax fraud. She also teased about releasing her autobiography in multiple languages.

Giorgi sent shockwaves through the tennis world when the news of her retirement came to light. The Italian did not initially announce her retirement but later authenticated the information.

The 32-year-old recently interacted with fans through a Question and Answer session on Instagram. Among other topics, Giorgi also clarified the rumors of tax fraud accusations being levied upon her. Many Italian news agencies reported that she was being hunted by the tax authorities.

Answering a question relating to the alleged tax probe, she said that it was false news.

"Are you hunted by tax authorities?" questioned a fan.
"Not at all. FAKE NEWS," Giorgi replied.

The former World No. 26 also shed light on her unexpected retirement, saying that it was the right moment.

"Because I felt it was the right moment."

Giorgi also teased an autobiography in multiple languages.

"In which language will you write your book? an autobiography," a fan questioned (translated using Google Translate).
"I am preparing it. English, Spanish, Italian, and maybe in Mandarin," she quipped.

The 2021 Canadian Open champion also revealed some lighter details about her personal life. She shared that her favorite city is Paris, her favorite Japanese food is sushi, and that she hoped to have children one day.

Camila Giorgi maintains innocence in the alleged tax fraud case: "I wouldn’t have returned to Italy 2 weeks ago"

Camila Giorgi spoke about the accusations surrounding her since her retirement from tennis. She harshly criticized the journalist for 'fake news' regarding the alleged tax fraud, adding that they would sell their dignity to get more views.

She dismissed the rumors on Instagram by claiming that she returned to Italy a couple of weeks ago. The 32-year-old stated that she has sought legal help as well.

"Unfortunately the worthless journalist make Fake News, and to get few more clicks on their page they would sell their dignity. I have a lawyer following me, and if I had problems I wouldn’t have returned to Italy 2 weeks ago, and I will be back soon. Thank you for your love," she wrote.

Giorgi's last tennis appearance was at the Miami Open where she lost to Iga Swiatek in the second round.
