Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas won the US Open mixed doubles exhibition event 'Mixed Madness!' on August 21 in New York at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Tsitsipas shared a hearty message for Badosa following this win.
Four mixed teams participated in the event, namely, Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgois, Amanda Anisimova and Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Coco Gauff, and Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The latter took the trophy home with a final score of 6-3 and defeated the duo of Anisimova and Fritz. The couple reached the title clash after beating Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton 6-4.
Following the win, the couple was seen holding the trophy together and kissing it. The video of this moment with the fans cheering from the stands was re-shared by Tsitsipas on X, with the Greek's caption reading:
"Found my queen in Queens❤️@paulabadosa"
Following this win, Tsisipas said that him and Badosa had been planning to play together, and that he was grateful for the win.
"We had been planning this for a long time, and I’m very happy it finally happened," said Tsitsipas as quoted by Greek Herald. "I’m grateful that we were able to play good tennis and have fun, and that I got to share this experience with a special person, with whom I also share my life. It was a great night."
Paula Badosa opens up about public attention on her relationship with Stefanos Tsitsipas
Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas previously parted ways and announced the breakup on social media; however, it was for a brief period of time. They later got back together and the Greek spoke about the same in an interview with SDNA.
"It seemed like a mountain to combine these two and I made the decision to take a break. After two-three weeks, I realized that she is the person who has supported me a lot. And when she tried to talk to me about meeting, I felt how intense the love we have for each other is," Tsitsipas said.
Following this statement, it got a lot of media attention, as Paula Badosa was asked questions regarding it in the press conference ahead of the 2024 French Open. Showing her dismay regarding the attention, the player said:
"He already explained and I have nothing else to say, I mean, it's our private life. I think one of the things that we didn't like is that it was very public, so now we want to keep it to ourselves. We know it's not going to be easy because we are two public people so people will ask, but we want to keep it more to ourselves."
