American tennis sensation Frances Tiafoe recently congratulated his compatriot Andre Iguodala on having a 'crazy' career after the NBA star announced his retirement a few days ago.

Iguodala, a four-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, has announced his retirement from the sport after nearly two decades of on-court brilliance.

In 1,231 games over 19 seasons, Iguodala averaged 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. He shared that he turned down interest from the Warriors and many other teams before opting to retire.

The 2015 NBA Finals MVP told Andscape's Marc Spears:

"It’s just the right time. Time started to get limited for me and I didn’t want to put anything in the back seat. I didn’t want to have to try to delegate time anymore. Especially with on the court, off the court with family. A lot."
"You want to play at a high level. But then family is a lot. My son is 16 and then two girls. So, [I’m] looking forward to seeing them grow up in those important years," he added.

In light of that, former US Open semifinalist Frances Tiafoe paid tribute to the star on Instagram, saying:

"@andre congrats on a crazy career."

Frances Tiafoe began his 2023 season at the year's first Grand Slam, the Australian Open. He got off to a excellent start, defeating Daniel Altmaier and Shang Juncheng in the first two rounds. However, he was eliminated in the third round by Karen Khachanov with a scoreline of, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6.

The American then had the same result at the French Open as he defeated Filip Krajinovic and Aslan Karatsev in the first two rounds to set up a third-round clash with Alexander Zverev. The German beat him in a four-set thriller, 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-1, 7-6(5).

Tiafoe then again faced an early exit at the Wimbledon Championships, crashing out in the third round after Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov cut his run short in straight sets, 2-6, 3-6, 2-6.

However, he improved his game at his home slam, the US Open, expecting to repeat his performance from 2022, when he reached the semifinals, defeating 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal on his way.

While that did not happen, Tiafoe did reach the quarterfinal of the New York Slam this year. In an all-American clash, Ben Shelton defeated his older compatriot in four sets, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(7), 6-2 to advance to his maiden Major semifinal.
