Frances Tiafoe recently gave a shoutout to former Chicago Bulls player Derrick Rose after the basketball legend received a special tribute. The tribute happened during the halftime of a game between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks at the United Center.
Rose's basketball journey began by playing college basketball for the Memphis Tigers before being drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft. After eight years with the Bulls, he was traded to the New York Knicks in 2016. Throughout his career, Rose also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 36-year-old won the FIBA World Cup with the United States of America twice - first in 2010 in Turkey and then in 2014 in Spain. He also won various accolades during his career, including being named NBA Most Valuable Player in 2011. He retired from professional basketball in September 2024.
On Saturday, January 4, during the halftime ceremony, the Derrick Rose Night was celebrated. The basketball star walked down the tunnel and addressed fans at the United Center. His former teammate Joakim Noah also gave a speech celebrating Rose.

Reacting to the tribute, Frances Tiafoe, a big basketball fan, shared the Bleacher Report's post on social media and expressed that Derrick Rose, who has a reported net worth of $90 million (according to celebritynetworth.com) deserved the tribute.
“1 of 1 well deserved night for you bro ✊🏿 ✊🏿 ✊🏿 @drose," Tiafoe captioned his Instagram story.
On the tennis side of things, Frances Tiafoe concluded his 2024 season at the Paris Masters, where he was eliminated in the first round by Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
The former World No.10 kicked off his 2025 season at the Brisbane International, which marked his return to the tournament after seven years. He began by defeating wild card Adam Walton in the first round before falling to Perricard in the second.

Tiafoe's best performance at the Melbourne tournament was reaching the quarterfinals in 2019. He kicked off his campaign by defeating qualifier Prajnesh Gunneswaran 7-6(7), 6-3, 6-3 in the first round, followed by a win over fifth seed Kevin Anderson 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 in the second round.
The former World No. 10 then triumphed over Andreas Seppi 6-7(3), 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, and 20th seed Grigor Dimitrov 7-5, 7-6(5), 6-7(1), 7-5 in the third and fourth rounds, respectively. However, his campaign ended in the quarterfinals after he was defeated by the second seed and eventual runner-up, Rafael Nadal, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
In 2024, Frances Tiafoe defeated Borna Coric 6-3, 7-6(7), 2-6, 6-3 in the first round before losing to Tomas Machac 6-4, 6-4, 7-6(5) in the second round.
