Frances Tiafoe reveals his favorite drink, leaves 'alcohol fairy' Arina Rodionova stunned by his choice

American tennis star Frances Tiafoe recently served up a surprise: he revealed that his drink of choice was a good old Whiskey Sour, much to the amusement of fellow tennis star Arina Rodionova. Who would have thought the stylish American had a penchant for a classic cocktail?

The revelation came on Daria Kasatkina’s vlog called “What the Vlog” on YouTube, where Rodionova casually asked Tiafoe what his favorite drink was.

Frances Tiafoe took a second to confirm that she was referring to an alcoholic beverage, quipping “You’re talking about alcohol, right?” before saying “My favorite…Whiskey Sour is my drink of choice.”

That drew quite the reaction from Rodionova, who was pleasantly surprised, before hitting Tiafoe, the current World No. 17, back with a “you’ve changed” among peels of laughter.

When asked what Tiafoe’s earlier drink of choice was, Arina Rodionova quipped “Anything that burns” and the trio broke into another round of laughs. She said:

“He’s become older and classier now, so he’s choosing Whiskey Sour. Then you have to be like Whiskey On The Rocks. That was very insightful. We really got to know Frances here.”

The conversation veered to the topic of wine and Frances Tiafoe revealed that it was Rodionova, ranked number 184 on the WTA rankings, who introduced him to red wine in the first place.

“You got me on red (wine)! At Team Tennis. I never really liked wine but then we did the whole Team Tennis thing and I became like a wine (connoisseur)” an animated Tiafoe said.

Rodionova, with a hint of pride, gave herself a new nickname of "alcohol fairy."

"You’re welcome! I just bring so much, I’m like an alcohol fairy basically. I only bring the best for people," she said with a hearty laugh.

Tiafoe, who made the semifinals of the US Open and the final of the Cincinnati Open in 2024, began his season with a round of 16 loss to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard at the Brisbane International last Thursday and will be back in action at the Australian Open later this week.

Rodionova, who is in action in the qualifying round of the Australian Open, will take on Germany's Eva Lys on Wednesday.
