Tiafoe, a proud Washington native and ardent fan of the NFL’s Washington Commanders, began his 2025 tennis campaign at the Brisbane International, where he was the fourth seed.

The 26-year-old started his campaign by defeating Adam Walton 7-6(5), 6-3 in the opening round. However, his journey was cut short in the second round when he lost to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 4-6, 6-7(4). Following this, the American tennis player moved to Melbourne to prepare for the 2025 Australian Open, set to commence on January 12.

On January 8, 2025, the official Australian Open Instagram account shared a series of practice session photos, one of which featured Tiafoe beaming in his Commanders t-shirt. Tiafoe reshared the image on his Instagram story, adding the caption:

In their penultimate game of the season on December 29, 2024, the Commanders faced off against the Atlanta Falcons. The prime-time thriller ended in a nail-biting 30-24 overtime victory for Washington, with quarterback Jayden Daniels throwing his third touchdown pass to Zach Ertz to clinch the win.

Tiafoe celebrated the Commanders’ victory on his Instagram story, sharing his excitement about the team’s success. He also posted a message highlighting Daniels’ impressive season, endorsing him for the Rookie of the Year honor.
