It is still unclear what health problems the Canadian tennis player has been facing.
Frances Tiafoe and Ayan Broomfield have been together since 2015, bonding over their shared love for tennis. As Tiafoe has risen to prominence, Broomfield has been a constant source of support.
Although the Canadian has not officially retired as a professional player, the UCLA graduate stepped away from the sport after the COVID-19 pandemic, citing injuries and stress. Since then, she has pursued a successful acting, modeling, and brand promotion career.
Frances Tiafoe's girlfriend Ayan Broomfield could "barely get out of bed" for two days during their trip to Tokyo
In September, at the Japan Open in Tokyo, Frances Tiafoe's girlfriend was excited to visit her "favorite city". However, the couple faced difficulties. Tiafoe could not cross the first hurdle at the event, losing to Brandon Nakashima. Meanwhile, Broomfield got sick and could not get out of bed for almost two days.
"Put a finger down if you travel to your favorite city and hours into the trip you get sick and can barely get out of bed for 48 hours," Ayan Broomfield wrote on Instagram.
"Barely made it out to experience + capture any of this magical city but the room service/delivery was exceptional," she added.
Tiafoe finished 2024 ranked World No. 18 with a 33-26 win-loss record. He enjoyed a romantic getaway with Broomfield to Cabo during the offseason and the pair also met Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at a Kansas City Chiefs game.
