The ongoing 2024 French Open has already been impacted by the weather. Play on the first day (May 26) was suspended for a while, but matches on the main two show courts weren't much affected.

Organizers were aware of the impending showers and closed the roofs on Court Philippe Chatrier and Court Suzanne Lenglen. Unfortunately, the forecast remains gloomy for the next few days as well, which could potentially cause the schedule to go for a toss.

Moderate rains are expected every day until Thursday, May 30. Matches were halted for a brief period on Monday, but the weather cleared up rather quickly, only for it to rain again. Friday's forecast has scattered showers, while the month of June offers hope of clearer skies.

Saturday (June 1) is expected to be cloudy with minimal chance of a downpour. The weather could play spoilsport on Sunday, as showers are expected to make a comeback, though it shouldn't be an issue for the rest of the tournament after that.

Starting from Monday (June 3), the forecast is more pleasant, ranging from cloudy to clear skies and warm, sunny days. The temperature during the first week of the tournament is expected to reach a high of 18°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 10°C.

The temperature is expected to rise during the second week of the French Open, reaching as high as 23°C, while the minimum temperature should be around 13°C. The tournament schedule shouldn't be impacted too heavily by the rains, as a torrential downpour is not expected.

As mentioned above, while play was suspended on the first two days of the 2024 French Open, it hasn't had any adverse effect on the tournament schedule yet.

The recent addition of a roof to Court Suzanne Lenglen has certainly helped in that regard, as more matches can be continued despite the unfavorable weather conditions.

Aside from the day's play being extended by a couple of hours, all scheduled matches on Sunday (May 26) were wrapped up. Monday's matches have been affected, but its final impact remains to be seen.

While the weather forecast has predicted intermittent showers during the tournament, that could change at the drop of a hat. Hopefully, the weather gods allow a brief respite during the next fortnight for the French Open to continue without any major hiccups.
