Bianca Andreescu claimed that she does a lot of meditation, which has helped her be in a good frame of mind at the ongoing Miami Open.
The Canadian booked her place in the third round of the 2023 Miami Open with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win over seventh seed Maria Sakkari on Friday. This was her first top 10 victory of the season and only her second since beating Serena Williams in the 2019 US Open final.
Speaking at her post-match press conference, Andreescu spoke about "balancing her chakras" and declared that she has been feeling very good from a mental point of view.
The Canadian stated that she does a lot of meditation to maintain her mental balance, adding that surrounding herself with people who continuously give her positive reinforcement helped as well.
"Yeah, I definitely pay a lot of attention to that stuff (chakras). I'm feeling really good. Even at Indian Wells I've been feeling really, really good. Good positive vibes all around. And it also helps that the people around me kind of keep a positive outlook on everything," Bianca Andreescu said.
"I do a lot of meditations on, you know, like, balancing all that stuff. Super easy. Just search balance your chakras on YouTube. That's what I do. And, yeah, I just feel like if I continuously give 100% with what I have that day in any way, shape, or form on the court, off the court, with people, with my team, with anyone, I know that my chakras are balanced," she added.
Bianca Andreescu will take on Sofia Kenin in the third round of the Miami Open
Bianca Andreescu will next take on Sofia Kenin in the third round of the Miami Open. Kenin booked her place in the Round of 32 with a 6-3, 6-4 win over 28th seed Anhelina Kalinina.
Speaking about the 24-year-old, Andreescu admitted that she has been playing great tennis and that their matchup will be an interesting one.
"I think she's playing great tennis. I've watched a few of her matches this year. I know that she might not be doing as well as she's hoping, but same with me, like you said. So I think it's going to be an interesting matchup. She's had amazing results, and I've played her a few times. So, yeah, hopefully I can do well," Bianca Andreescu said.
Andreescu and Kenin will lock horns for the fourth time, with the Canadian leading 3-1 in the head-to-head. The winner of the clash will face either ninth seed Belinda Bencic or 18th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in the fourth round of the Miami Open.
