Tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg bemoaned Novak Djokovic's decision to follow Andrew Tate online. Tate is a controversial social media figure who has been at the receiving end of flak from many people over his views.

The news came after Djokovic's second-round match against his longtime rival Rafael Nadal. The Serb is currently competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics where he continues his quest for an elusive gold medal. The World No. 2 is the top seed for the event being held at Roland Garros, due to Jannik Sinner's withdrawal.

The 37-year-old kicked off his journey by decimating Australia's Matthew Ebden 6-0, 6-1 in 48 minutes. On the other hand, Nadal defeated Marton Fucsovics 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 in his opener in two hours and 30 minutes.

The highly awaited 60th meeting between the two was going the Serb's way at 6-1, 4-0 when the Spaniard staged an impressive comeback to level the second set. However, it was the second seed who broke his opponent's serve and served out the match to win 6-1, 6-4 in an hour and 43 minutes.

After the match, a user on X (formerly Twitter), posted an image that showed that Djokovic was following controversial social media figure Andrew Tate. Tate has been on the receiving end of flak from many over his controversial views regarding masculinity, religion, politics, and other topics. He also has cases filed against him concerning sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking, charges which he has denied.

Tennis journalist Rothenberg reposted the image and seemed to deplore the 37-year-old's decision:

“Novak Djokovic, GOAT of tennis and GOAT of unforced errors," he tweeted.

Novak Djokovic will carry on in the 2024 Paris Olympics against Germany's Dominik Koepfer in the third round.

The German has been having a phenomenal campaign in Paris so far having ousted Canadian veteran Milos Raonic from a set down in the opening round 6-7(2), 7-6(5), 7-6(1) in two hours and 22 minutes.

Koepfer then faced the Italian Matteo Arnaldi and staged yet another comeback from a set down to defeat the Italian 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in an hour and 44 minutes to reach the third round.

Koepfer will now play the 24-time Grand Slam champion in the next round. The two men have faced each other once in their careers in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Rome Masters, where the Serb prevailed in a three-setter.

The winner of their match will play the winner of the match between Sebastian Baez and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals.
