Andre Agassi's ex-coach Brad Gilbert slammed Oakland Athletics, commonly known as the A's, owner John Fisher, and Major League Baseball for relocating the franchise to Las Vegas, away from California. He coached Agassi from 1992 to 2002, winning seven Grand Slam titles together.
Recently, Gilbert criticized Fisher for temporarily shifting the team from their home stadium Oakland Coliseum to Sacramento, before taking it to to Las Vegas by 2028. He accused MLB and Fisher of 'intentionally sabotaging' the team for monetary gains.
"John Fisher Writes Widely Panned Letter to A's Fans Before Final Oakland Series - Sports Illustrated ludicrous MLB allowed this go on, he intentionally sabotaged the team and took money 💰 and claimed small market, good riddance Oaktown deserves way better," Gilbert said.
Fisher wrote a heartfelt note, addressing the fans, about the decision. He assured them that he tried to strike a deal to keep the franchise in Oakland but could not find a common ground, which prompted them to relocate.
Andre Agassi's coach Brad Gilbert parted ways with Coco Gauff
Brad Gilbert was recently relieved from his coaching duty with Coco Gauff. The duo ended a 14-month partnership after failing to defend the US Open title. The partnership was successful, which saw her capture her first WTA 500, WTA 1000, and Grand Slam titles at the Washinton Open, Cincinnati Open, and US Open in 2023.
Gilbert took to X to express gratitude to Gauff and the rest of the team. He also wished her for her career ahead, adding that the American had a very bright future. Gilbert also said that he was looking forward to his coaching career.
"Thanks 🙏 to @CocoGauff and the entire team for an absolutely amazing summer run in 2023 and for 14 months of incredible team effort. Coco, at just 20 years young, your future is incredibly bright, and I wish you nothing but continued success ahead. I’m excited for the next chapter in my Coaching career," Gilbert wrote.
Coco Gauff also reciprocated her gratitude towards her ex-coach, wishing him for his future.
"Thank you @bgtennisnation! We had an incredible run and I wish you all the best in the future!," Gauff said.
