Martina Navratilova and Andy Roddick recently reacted to New York Mayor Eric Adams being indicted over a corruption scandal. The two tennis greats are known for being vocal about their political views on social media.
Adams, who has been in office since 2022, is being charged by U.S. prosecutors with bribery and fraud related to receiving campaign contributions from foreign nationals. He could face a prison sentence for these charges. While Adams has declined to resign, he has called for an immediate trial.
On Thursday, Martina Navratilova replied to an X (formerly Twitter) user who posted a document detailing the events that led to the indictment. She predicted that it wouldn’t end well for Adams and, in a sarcastic manner, expressed regret for those defending him.
“Wow… this won’t end well for Adams - and I am sad for all the people defending him just today” - Martina Navratilova said
For Andy Roddick, Eric Adams' indictment for bribery and corruption was a welcome relief.
“Good riddance”- Roddick said
The investigation gained attention after FBI agents raided the Brooklyn home of the mayor’s chief fundraiser, Brianna Suggs, in November. Shortly after, they seized Adams’ phones and, earlier this month, confiscated devices from several key aides, including the police commissioner and schools chancellor.
Martina Navratilova claims undecided voters are pretending and are the closest to Donald Trump
The United States presidential election is fast approaching, and with political tensions high across the country, some citizens have shared who they plan to vote for in November. Martina Navratilova, a Democrat, is a staunch supporter of Kamala Harris and a vocal critic of Republican candidate Donald Trump. She has also criticized undecided voters, accusing them of pretending and secretly supporting Trump.
Columnist Michael Harriot recently posted that the media should avoid promoting the views of undecided voters, referring to them as "stupid."
"At this point, the media must either stop telling us what “undecided voters” think or call them what they are: Stupid voters," Harriot wrote.
"Or closet trump voters and they are just pretending they are undecided so someone from the media will want to talk to them," Navratilova wrote.
Aside from Narvaratilova’s views about the 2024 us election, she has also opposed transgender women competing in women's sports, calling them "failed male athletes." She wants a fact-based discussion on the issue and denies being transphobic. While she supports including transgender athletes, she stresses the need for fair competition and has supported laws limiting their participation in women's sports.
