Martina Navratilova recently reacted to the news of Donald Trump offering billionaire Stephen Feinberg, the co-founder and CEO of Cerberus Capital Management, the position of deputy defense secretary. Feinberg is just one of the many billionaires who is expected to work closely with Trump during his second term as President of the United States.
Trump will assume office as the 47th president in January 2025, with JD Vance as the vice president-elect. He has previously served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021 and secured a second term at the Oval Office by defeating Kamala Harris in the 2024 US presidential elections.
Recently, the former Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich, took to social media and according to him, Donald Trump is reportedly planning to offer one of the top two positions at the Pentagon, the position of deputy defense secretary to Feinberg. The Pentagon serves as the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense.
Reich expressed concerns about the potential conflict of interest that could arise from Feinberg's connections to defense contractors if he were to become deputy defense secretary.
“Trump is planning to add another billionaire to his admin, offering private equity exec Stephen Feinberg the job of deputy defense secretary. His firm has investments in defense companies with huge Pentagon contracts . If this isn't a conflict of interest, I don't know what is," Reich posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Reacting to the news, former World No.1, Martina Navratilova echoed the concerns of Robert Reich and expressed that the "grift" would be huge.
“Jesus. The grift is going to be massive," Navratilova posted on X.
