Martina Navratilova has slammed a judge's decision to set free a "violent" domestic abuser from Tarland. Neil Anderson, aged 40, was accused of domestically abusing his partner in the Scottish village.
Per reports, Anderson had secretly tracked his partner's car for five years. When he was confronted, he smashed her head into an oven, shattering its glass, and threw her into the broken glass pieces. She sustained injuries to her head, legs and feet.
"Violent Tarland domestic abuser secretly tracked partner's car for five years. After being confronted over his many infidelities, Neil Anderson smashed his partner's head into an oven with such force the glass broke," The Press and Journal reported.
The defense told the court that Anderson had confessed to being guilty of the offense. However, they defended his act, stating:
"Mr. Anderson's decision making at the time was far from best. He has a good job and he has worked hard to maintain that employment."
The final verdict on the case saw the court setting Anderson free sentenced to 225 hours of unpaid work and compulsory participation in a 'domestic abuse programme'.
Taking to social media on Monday, December 10, Navratilova expressed her disgust at the incident. She questioned the judgment of all the "ridiculous" judges, wondering if they had lost their minds.
"Wtaf?? I mean seriously- what is happening with these ridiculous judges??? Have they lost their collective minds???," Navratilova wrote on X.
"It's males doing them still" - Martina Navratilova on a reported spike in "trans women crimes"
Martina Navratilova accused the males of the potential rise in crimes committed by trans women. The tennis Hall of Famer made her remarks after reports emerged about an alleged trans woman, Kelsea Broadfoot, who was arrested on suspicion of multiple offenses.
Broadfoot was spotted on Ryde Street with a Samurai sword and trousers dropped to ankles. The 53-year-old was under the influence of alcohol and was later arrested by the authorities. A news article referred to Broadfoot as a "woman", leading one user to criticize the label as an attempt to misrepresent the crime as one committed by a woman.
Navratilova backed the criticism as she held the men accountable for such a sudden rise in women's crimes.
"Exactly what I said years ago- all of a sudden we will see a spike in 'women’s' crime. When it’s males doing them still," Navratilova wrote.
Martina Navratilova has been a strong critic of transgenders assuming women's rights and spaces, especially in sports. The 18-time Grand Slam champion recently expressed her disdain against the NCAA for allowing a transgender athlete to play in a women's volleyball team.
