"Highest I've jumped since 2010" - Andy Murray quips about his renewed vigor after ecstatic celebrations on winning Paris Olympics doubles 2R

Doubles partners Andy Murray and Daniel Evans battled past Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen to book their quarterfinal spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The win keeps British hopes alive at the Games and extends Murray's swansong.

After losing the first set, the Belgians fought hard and almost turned the tables in their favor in a second-set tie-break. The Britons saved two match points before emerging victorious 6-3, 6-7(8), 11-9 in the tightly contested match.

The duo could hardly contain their excitement as they tasted sweet victory after 2 hours and 5 minutes of intense play. Murray took to Instagram to share pictures of their on-court celebrations. In one of the pictures, the duo can be seen facing each other and leaping up in joy. Murray captioned the photo on a humorous note, writing:

"Highest I've jumped since 2010," Murray wrote.

The story also contained a picture of the duo embracing each other on-court.

After his withdrawal from singles before the Games began, the doubles event at the Paris Olympics will draw a curtain on Murray's two-decade-long illustrious career.

In the quarterfinals, Murray and Evans will play either Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul, or Robin Haase and Jean-Julien Rojer.

After firing the winning shot, Andy Murray and Dan Evans jumped in excitement before embracing each other. The duo celebrated the success of their hard-fought battle against Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen, prolonging Murray's retirement that will come at the end of his run at the Games.

An emotional Murray walked back to his chair and buried his head in his hands shedding tears of joy. In a post-match on-court interview, he walked through those moments and shared his thoughts (via BBC Sport):

"It's obviously unbelievably emotional. You are unbelievably happy, and then for whatever reason, I don't know why it happens, it's like happy tears," Murray said.
"I don’t know why that’s the case but I was really emotional at the end of the match.Obviously I was extremely happy, excited that we managed to get through," he added.

The 37-year-old will next be gearing up with doubles partner Evans for the quarterfinals scheduled on Thursday, August 1.
