"Hoped no one gonna notice it" - Daria Kasatkina jokes about adorable dance celebration dedicated to girlfriend Natalia Zabiiako after US Open 1R win

Daria Kasatkina playfully remarked about her dance celebration which she did following her win in the first round of the 2024 US Open. She dedicated the lively dance to her girlfriend, Natalia Zabiiako, and Arina Rodionova.

Kasatkina entered the New York Slam after competing in one WTA 500 hard court tournament, the 2024 Mubadala Citi DC Open and two WTA 1000 hard court tournaments - the 2024 Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Open.

In Washington, the Russian, seeded second, lost 6-2, 5-7, 0-6 to eventual semifinalist Caroline Dolehide in the opening match. Similarly, in Toronto, Kasatkina was defeated 4-6, 3-6 in the first round by the eventual runner-up Amanda Anisimova. Then in Cincinnati, the World No. 13 managed to win her first-round match against compatriot Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-4, 6-2 but lost 1-6, 6-2, 1-6 to qualifier Taylor Townsend in the second.

At the 2024 US Open, Daria Kasatkina is seeded 12th and she kicked off her campaign with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Jaqueline Cristian. Following her triumph, Kasatkina was spotted celebrating with a dance.

Kasatkina then took to social media to re-share the video and said she was hoping that the dancing would go unnoticed.

"How much I hoped that no one gonna notice it 🫣 😂" Kasatkina posted on X.

The Russian also shared the video on her Instagram story, stating that the dance was dedicated to her girlfriend, Natalia Zabiiako and Russian-Australian tennis player Arina Rodionova.

"Dance is dedicated to @natalia_zabiiako @arinarodio," Kasatkina captioned her Instagram story.

Daria Kasatkina will face Peyton Stearns or Lesia Tsurenko in US Open 2R

Daria Kasatkina will face either Peyton Stearns or Lesia Tsurenko in the second round of the 2024 US Open.

Stearns, like Kasatkina, participated in the 2024 Mubadala Citi DC Open, Canadian Open, and the Cincinnati Open before entering the New York Slam. She also competed in the 2024 Tennis in the Land tournament.

In Washington, the American defeated wildcard Clervie Ngounoue in the first round but was defeated by Emma Raducanu in the second round. At the Canadian Open, Stearns made it to the quarterfinals after defeating Anna Blinkova, Madison Keys, and Victoria Azarenka in the first three rounds. Her run in Toronto ended when she lost to eventual champion Jessica Pegula in the last eight.

In Cincinnati, Stearns lost to Paula Badosa in the first round and then she competed at the 2024 Tennis in the Land in Cleveland where she lost to Katerina Siniakova in the quarterfinals.

Daria Kasatkina has faced Peyton Stearns four times on the WTA Tour, winning three of the four matches. Their most recent encounter was in the second round of the 2024 French Open, which Stearns won 7-5, 6-2.

Meanwhile, Lesia Tsurenko lost to Caroline Dolehide at the 2024 Mubadala Citi DC Open. Then at the Canadian Open, she defeated Bianca Andreescu in the first round but fell to Anna Kalinskaya in the second round. At the Cincinnati Open, the Ukrainian lost in the first qualifying round to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

Daria Kasatkina has faced Lesia Tsurenko five times on the WTA Tour, winning three of the five match-ups. Their most recent encounter was in the third round of the 2023 Madrid Open, which Kasatkina won 6-4, 6-2.
