Fans took umbrage to Andrea Petkovic's recent comments, where she opined that Carlos Alcaraz lacked a 'plan B'. They felt that the tennis resume of the young Spaniard was enough evidence to give an idea of his caliber in the toughest of situations.

In the recent episode of The Rennae Stubbs Podcast, former German professional Andrea Petkovic said that when things aren't going according to his plans, Alcaraz is 'f*cking horrendous'. She also mentioned how other players like Alexander Zvererv, Taylor Fritz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic didn't have the same problem.

However, this statement didn't sit well with the fans of the 21-year-old who took to X (formerly Twitter) to lash out at Petkovic. One fan dubbed the German's take as 'horrendous' and cited some of the Spaniard's impressive feats to prove their point.

"Sorry, but this is a horrendous take. Carlos has technical problems when he is rushed on fast hardcourts, and can be inconsistent, but his peak level is outrageous and the highest by far on the Tour. You don't win Slams on all surfaces by 21 without extraordinary adaptability," the fan commented.

Another fan was appalled by the 37-year-old and said how she was using Carlos Alcaraz's name for headlines.

"Worry about your own substandard legacy instead of a super sweet 21-year-old who already had four grand slam titles and multiple masters titles to his name lol. Has-beens using Carlos’ name for headlines get on my last f*cking nerve," the fan said.

Here are some other fans from tennis fans lashing out at Petkovic.

"I love Petko, but the reason he’s so fun to watch is that he does have a plan B C and D and it’s enormously entertaining. The problem may be that he too often goes to plan C - for his own and our entertainment - when plan A would work just fine," a fan opined.
"It’s crazy that y’all expect or demand a 21-year-old to be consistent. He won the French by problem solving and repeated Wimbledon but he is so bad? At 21 years old he is not supposed to have 4 grand slams and y’all still demanding more. Please stfu and let him grow gradually," a fan was appalled.
"people love to s**t on him any chance they get but uplift *some* other players for dumb*** stats. if two slams a szn is bad sign me up," a fan felt.
"Carlos is the poster child of overachieving, yet every week some has been has something dumb to say about him," a fan mentioned.

Interestingly, there have been many occasions in recent times where Carlos Alcaraz has stepped up big-time to overturn a deficit and clinch titles.

He won four titles this year including the Indian Wells Masters, Wimbledon, the French Open, and the China Open. He also added an Olympic silver to his name in Paris. Interestingly, in two of his finals, Alcaraz had to come back from a set down.

The Spaniard found himself trailing after three sets in the French Open final against Alexander Zverev. However, he dug deep to find his best tennis and beat the German by dominantly winning his final two sets, triumphing 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 to lifted La Coupe des Mousquetaires and conquer his childhood dream.

After a hard-fought opening set went his rival Jannik Sinner's way at the China Open final, the World No. 3 locked in to win the match (6)6-7, 6-4, 7-6(3) the 16th title of the career. It is worth noting that Carlos Alcaraz was 0-3 down in the tiebreaker of the deciding set but took his level up by several notches to win seven points in a row,

Carlos Alcaraz has set his sights on the 2025 Australian Open where he will be looking to become the youngest man to clinch the career Grand Slam, breaking his idol Rafael Nadal's record.
