Novak Djokovic clinching a statement win over third seed Carlos Alcaraz in a blockbuster quarterfinal clash at the 2025 Australian Open has sparked discussions among tennis fans. Many marveled at the 37-year-old's ability to consistently compete with the younger generations.

The highly anticipated eighth meeting of Djokovic and Alcaraz did not disappoint but in the clash of generations, the Serb yet again proved that he still has what it takes to dominate the upper echelons of the tennis world. He came back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 after three hours and 37 minutes of power-packed tennis.

Fans on social media reacted to the Serb's monumental win. One fan was puzzled by how Carlos Alcaraz, who dominated the game initially, lost the match. The Spaniard is yet to make it past the quarterfinals in Melbourne.

"How on earth has Alcaraz bottled that, he's cursed at Australia," the fan questioned.

Another fan credited Andy Murray for bringing the best out of the 24-time Major champion.

"Andy Murray may be the greatest coach of all time," the fan claimed.

During the on-court interview, Novak Djokovic took a moment to praise his opponent Carlos Alcaraz, and boldly stated how he wished their quarterfinal clash could've been the final of the event. The Serb said Alcaraz was going nowhere and assured the tennis fraternity that he would embellish his already impressive tennis resume with many more accolades.

"You know, first, I wanna say, my utmost, respect and admiration for Carlos and everything, he stands for and what he has achieved so far in his young career."
"What a terrific guy he is and even better competitor, youngest ever#1 in the world, in the history of our sport, so 4 Grand Slams and I'm sure that we're going to see a lot of him and maybe not as much as I would like, but, he's gonna, he's going to be there for sure, longer than me, and you know, I just wish that this, this,match today was the finals, honestly."
