Pegula lost in straight sets 7-5, 7-5 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium but was still cheered by her home crowd for her best-ever Grand Slam performance.

As she looked back on her journey over the years in her post-match interview after the US Open final, Pegula said,

"My family obviously but even like some really close friends who you know we’ve sacrificed a lot or even played a little bit with me when I was young. But have sacrificed a lot of things that we didn’t really get to do together."

Terry Pegula was born to a truck driver in Pennsylvania, where he attended college at Penn State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in petroleum and natural gas engineering.
