Indian tennis player Sriram Balaji made a notable appearance at the Moselle Open 2024, competing in men's doubles alongside Argentine partner Guido Andreozzi. The tournament is an ATP 250 event held at the Arènes de Metz in France.

While Balaji entered the competition with high hopes, his journey ended in the Round of 16, where he and Andreozzi faced the formidable Dutch duo of Matwe Middelkoop and Jean-Julien Rojer.

Despite their exit, Balaji and Andreozzi's performance in the tournament earned them a share of the prize money. According to the tournament’s prize distribution, teams reaching the Round of 16 received a combined prize of $3,160, translating to $1,580 per player. Thus, Balaji and Andreozzi secured $1,580 each, which amounts to approximately INR 1,32,918.

In their Round-of-16 match, Sriram Balaji and Guido Andreozzi faced off against the Dutch pairing of Matwe Middelkoop and Jean-Julien Rojer. Balaji is ranked 65th in the ATP men’s doubles rankings, whereas his partner is ranked 56th. Meanwhile, the pair of Middelkoop and Rojer held 77th and 45th ranks, respectively. This contest was anticipated to be closely contested, and it did not disappoint.

The match began positively for Balaji and Andreozzi, who took an early lead by winning the first set 7-6. The second set saw the Dutch duo gain momentum, overpowering Balaji and Andreozzi to win decisively with a score of 6-2. Their aggressive tactics turned the tide, leaving Balaji and Andreozzi struggling to maintain their earlier form.

With the match tied at one set each, the decisive third set went to a tiebreak. The tension mounted as both teams fought for the match, but ultimately, the Dutch pair prevailed, sealing the match with a 10-7 victory in the tiebreak.
