Nagal will get 7,400 US dollars, the prize money for the ones crashing out in the first round. Had the Indian star won the match, he would have assured himself a prize money of 12,110 US dollars.

The winner will get a whopping prize money of 104,985 US dollars while the runner-up will get 61.235 US dollars. The semi-finalists and quarterfinalists will get prize money of 36,000 and 20,860 US dollars, respectively.

Sumit Nagal goes down without a fight in Stockholm

Nagal did not have the best of outings in the match against Halys, who looked in control throughout the match. The first set was a completely one-sided affair as Halys converted all three break-point chances that he got. Nagal had three chances to break his French opponent’s serve but failed to convert even one of them.

Halys produced five aces and a winning percentage of 100 (9 out of 9) from his first serves. He also hit 11 winners, eight more than Nagal. Nagal looked indifferent as he was let down by the 13 unforced errors he made in the opening set, 11 more than Halys.

Nagal was a tad more competitive in the second set, earning a crucial break. But then he dropped his serve thrice to concede the set and the match.

Halys was brilliant with his serves, smashing nine aces in the set. He committed 24 unforced errors in the set, nine more than Nagal, but made up for the errors with 17 smashing winners.
