The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks to win the 2024 NBA Finals. The Celtics dominated the series by winning with a handsome 4-1 margin. With this win, they also became the most successful team in the NBA. Boston Celtics have won the NBA Finals 18 times, the most by any team in the league's history.
Serena Williams congratulated the team for the triumph on Instagram. She wrote:
"Now this is winning in STYLE. Congrats!" @cincoro @celtics
In May 2024, Williams was named a co-owner of Cincoro alongside several other athletes like former professional baseball player Derek Jeter, and professional golfers Dustin Johnson and Keegan Bradley, among others. Cincoro was launched by the basketball great Michael Jordan along with other four NBA owners in 2019.
Serena Williams claimed she was thrilled to be part of Cincoro. In an official press release, she revealed her motivation behind becoming a co-owner and her love for the Tequila brand. Williams said:
"Being part of Cincoro isn’t just about business—it’s about championing a legacy of greatness. I love Cincoro. Just as I’ve strived for excellence on the court, I recognize the dedication and drive behind Cincoro and I’m thrilled to be part of the team."
The Boston Celtics' owners Wyc Grousbeck and his wife Emilia Fazzalari are also the founding members of Cincoro along with Michael Jordan.
Fazzalari posted a few pictures of the players celebrating their triumph with a bottle of Cincoro on Instagram. They were seen holding the bottle along with the championship trophy. She captioned the post:
"Celebrating the 2024 NBA champions with @Cincoro!"
"I think I would definitely be super interested in that" - Serena Williams on owning a team in the WNBA
Serena Williams spoke about potentially owning a WNBA basketball team and the rise of women's sports in an interview with CNN.
Williams claimed that women's sport is now having a 'moment' that it should have always had. The seven-time Wimbledon champion was quoted as saying:
"I think with the right market, I think I would definitely be super interested in that." (When asked about owning a team in WNBA)
"I think the moment's been happening, we just needed the right catalyst and the right people. ... I think women's sport is having a moment that it should've always had. I feel like tennis has had its moment. It's international and it's huge and it's always going to be there, and it's time to lift up other sports. ... Let's put it on that platform that tennis is on," she added.
