American hope Madison Keys and World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka will face each other in the semifinal of the 2025 Australian Open. The match is scheduled for Saturday, January 25.

Keys kicked off her 2025 season in style by winning the Adelaide International, defeating compatriot Jessica Pegula in the final. It marked her first title of the year and the ninth of her career.

The 29-year-old then headed to Melbourne, aiming to win her first Grand Slam title. She began her campaign with a commanding victory over Ann Li and went on to defeat Elena-Gabriela Ruse, Danielle Collins, Elena Rybakina, and Elina Svitolina. She then caused a massive upset by beating second seed Iga Swiatek, setting up a clash with Sabalenka in the final.

Meanwhile, Sabalenka has once again impressed with her performance in the tournament. As a two-time defending champion, she’s looking to secure her third title in Melbourne. She claimed her first Major here in 2023, defeating Rybakina, and successfully defended her title last year by beating Zheng Qinwen.

The Belarusian started her run in Melbourne by defeating former US Open champion Sloane Stephens, followed by a win over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. She then cruised past Clara Tauson, Mirra Andreeva, and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova before taking down her close friend Paula Badosa in the last four.

Madison Keys and Aryna Sabalenka have faced each other five times on the WTA Tour. The latter has won four of their encounters, in 2018 Cincinnati, 2023 Wimbledon, 2023 US Open, and 2024 Beijing. The former's only victory came in 2021 in Berlin.
