Serena Williams reveals how tennis helped her create WYN Beauty
Serena Williams recently sat down with Byrdie to have a chat where she spoke about how tennis catalyzed the creation of WYN Beauty.
Williams always had a hard time figuring out how to appear in front of the press after her matches as she only had a few minutes to decide on her look. This led her to realize many others like her would be facing a similar problem.
"After playing on center court in front of millions of people, I'd have to do press. There was a point where I was talking to the press every single day. I had to figure out how I wanted to show up, but I only had a few minutes after a match to do my makeup."
"I would often mix my foundation and sun cream because I couldn't find a skin tint I loved. I realized that if I'm having this problem, other people are as well."
Williams also explained how tennis is different from other sports as the games could go on for hours with sweat pouring down all over your face, which made her think about ways in which she could enhance her features.
"Tennis is different than other sports. With tennis, you can play for three hours and have sweat pouring down your face. So I had to find little ways to enhance my features."
Tennis' influence on the brand can also be seen in the color of the packaging of the products, which is inspired by the color of a tennis ball. According to WYN Beauty's website, this color is close to Williams' heart.
