Nick Kyrgios is rather well known for his outspoken nature, which often shines through on X (formerly Twitter) where he engages with all sorts of commentary, even from random people. One such instance happened recently when the Australian was called out by a fan on X in response to Kyrgios posting a positive update regarding his return to the tennis courts.

The fan wrote:

"I remember this one journalist mentioning that Kyrgios doesn't work hard on purpose cuz its his cope for being unsuccessful. It gives him & other lazy asses the excuse that 'if only we were motivated, we'd beat them all.' Now he has a new cope. He is a loser cuz he doesn't dope."

Kyrgios wasted no time firing back at the person as he listed his career achievements to counter the point of the person in question. He wrote:

"I have an 8 figure career. Grand slam finalist and beaten all of the greatest of all time. Doesn’t seem bad to me. No drugs either"

The whole exchange was based on some previous comments made by Kyrgios, who admitted that he doesn't really work as hard as some other players, implying that his lack of results is simply the result of a lack of trying. Similarly, he said his most recent successes have been a product of him trying, further cementing Kyrgios' analysis of his career.

The person who called him out found that to be 'coping' at best, which prompted Kyrgios to shoot back with some of the achievements he did. He's been particularly proud to beat the 'no drugs' drum lately after prominent tennis players like Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek tested positive for banned substances.

Nick Kyrgios' Response to Doping Controversies

Nick Kyrgios has been one of the loudest players when it comes to the recent doping controversies that rocked the sport in 2024. He took a pretty firm stance on both Sinner's and Swiatek's cases, calling them out multiple times.

Just a few days ago, Kyrgios spoke on the matter again. He wrote on X:

"No thanks. How about we just don’t have people cheating - and can look at themselves in the mirror and sleep knowing they’ve accomplished things without no bulls**t"

In fairness, it's not the first time he's called out other players; he famously called out Novak Djokovic during the pandemic for staging a tennis event with spectators during a global pandemic. Now, he's turned his attention to this issue and proudly adopted a "no drugs" tag for his own career.
