Martina Navratilova reacted after former World Chess Champion and political activist Garry Kasparov opined that Donald Trump's incoming cabinet seems like an "oligarchy." She highlighted how a similar comment from her received a negative reaction. Trump, after securing his presidential election victory on November 5, has been nominating candidates for his second-term cabinet.

Russian chess grandmaster, Garry Kasparov, who is now a political activist and writer, appeared on the Stay Tuned with Preet podcast on Thursday. Taking abut the incoming President's cabinet, Kasparov said,

"It's not like dictatorship in an ideological form, but its more like oligarchy. That's what we saw in Russia in the '90s where you have power concentrated in the hands of a few. The fact is that the largest private contractor of the government, Elon Musk, could be in the position to decide how government spends the money. It tells you that the traditional system of checks and balances may not function during Trump's second term."

Navratilova shared Kasparov's comments on X (formery Twitter) and highlighted the response she received to a similar comment she made earlier. She wrote:

"I was called a f**king idiot for saying the same thing yesterday. I wonder if that same a**wipe would say the same thing to Garry🙄🤡💩"

On Thursday, Trump announced David Sacks, a podcaster and former PayPal COO, as his nominee for White House Artificial Intelligence and crypto czar, leading to backlash on social media. After one post on X highlighted Sacks' controversial views on immigration, Navratilova remarked that under Trump's leadership, the government would be an 'oligarchy.' Navratilova wrote:

"We will have an Oligarchy cabinet if I ever saw one."

The former World No. 1 was criticized by a fan who wrote:

"You’re so f**king stupid"

In response, Navratilova said:

"Reported and blocked."

Martina Navratilova has been in more than one exchange regarding the incoming President's cabinet. After she criticized Donald Trump's choices, an X user said previous US presidents also had similar cabinets, saying:

"The US politics are full of them. The Bush fam, The Clinton fam, Obama fam., The Trump fam. The Biden fam.......,Take your pick!"

The American tennis icon, who has regularly critiqued Trump's actions, responded:

"They were elected and are not billionaires. Unlike this trump cabinet. Try again with whataboutism:)."

Notably, Trump's cabinet nominees, including vaccine skeptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, and Matt Gaetz, have sparked controversy. Gaetz faces sexual misconduct allegations, while others like Kash Patel, nominated as FBI Director, have been labeled by some as "conspiracy theorists." Navratilova has also voiced concerns over Patel's nomination.
