Iga Swiatek recalled some of her embarrassing moments on the court during a press conference following her second-round win over Rebecca Sramkova on Thursday. The Pole is currently competing for her maiden Australian Open title and started her campaign with a comfortable straight-set win over Katerina Siniakova on Monday.
In a press conference following her win against Rebecca in the second round of the 2025 Australian Open, Swiatek was asked about the most embarrassing thing she did on the court. The World No. 2 mentioned that she has cried a lot of times on the court and added:
"Well, I cried plenty of times, so, I mean, I wouldn't say, it wasn't, yeah, it was a bit embarrassing. That's why I cried a bit more and bit more. But yeah I had a match when I cried like for 10 minutes. I think some people remember from here from this room and I wasn't able to just play tennis. And also I went out on court once in Indian Wells with toilet paper sticking to my leg, of my skirts, so yeah that was also embarrassing," Iga Swiatek said (9:00 onwards).
Iga Swiatek started her 2025 season competing at the United Cup, where she reached the finals, squaring off against eventual winner, Coco Gauff. Amid her game, when Gauff had the lead after the first set, Swiatek showed signs of nervousness before being comforted by her friend, Maja Chwalinska, who put ice bags on her neck and made her laugh.
A week ago on the Tennis Insiders Club podcast, Swiatek recalled her early career days and revealed the pressure she underwent after signing her first major sponsor.
