After winning the 2023 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells on Sunday, Carlos Alcaraz shared an insight into his life beyond the tennis court.
Alcaraz won his maiden title at Indian Wells by defeating an in-form Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and 10 minutes.
During a post-match interview with Tennis Channel, Jim Courier asked Alcaraz how he likes to unwind during his off days. The 19-year-old responded by saying he likes to spend time with family and friends "doing nothing at all."
"Well let’s say I am an easy guy. I love to stay with my family, with my friends, you know, doing nothing at all. You know, it's just talking with them. You know, having fun like watching a movie and watching some videos that make us laugh, you know. Small things for me are the biggest thing," Alcaraz said.
Carlos Alcaraz becomes only 2nd teenager after Rafael Nadal to win 3 Masters 1000 titles
Carlos Alcaraz joined compatriot Rafael Nadal in becoming only the second teenager to win at least three ATP Masters 1000 titles.
Nadal won an incredible six Masters 1000 titles before his 20th birthday. Between 2005-06, the King of Clay won the Monte Carlo Masters and the Italian Open twice, as well as the Madrid Masters and the Canadian Open.
Alcaraz will have a chance to compete in three more Masters 1000 events before his 20th birthday on May 5 - Miami, Monte Carlo and Madrid.
Unfortunately for the Spaniard, the Madrid Masters final will take place on May 7, making it impossible for him to equal Nadal's feat.
Nevertheless, Alcaraz's impressive performances have already made him a star.
