Novak Djokovic shares behind-the-scenes footage of meeting with K-pop star Wang Yibo
Novak Djokovic was involved in a unique cross-cultural event on September 29, where he played tennis with K-pop star Wang Yibo atop the Great Wall of China. The event called 'The Shadow of a Champion on the Great Wall' was organized by Lacoste, Djokovic's kit partner.
On TikTok, the Serb shared behind-the-scenes footage of the event. In this video, one can see him meeting Yibo. Djokovic also invites Yibo to touch his Paris Olympics gold medal, to the latter's surprise.
Yibo took to Instagram to post several images from the event and wrote:
"I'm truly honored and delighted to have played tennis with an Olympic Champion at the iconic Great Wall! Big thanks to @lacoste, and thank you Nole @djokernole! I'm already looking forward to our next match, will keep training hard and play big!@catherinespindlerpro"
Djokovic later commented on the post, saying he was looking forward to inviting the K-Pop star to one of his matches.
The Serb's last appearance on the tour was at the 2024 US Open, where he suffered a third-round exit at the hands of Alexei Popyrin. The former World No. 1 played for Serbia in the Davis Cup soon after and will now make his return to the court in China for the Shanghai Masters.
He has received a bye in the first round and will face either Alex Michelsen or Yunchaokete Bu in the second round.
