Naomi Osaka recently claimed that her boyfriend Cordae's new song, "Don't Walk Away", isn't getting the attention it deserves. The song is the tenth track on the rapper's latest album, 'The Crossroads', which was released on Friday, November 15.
In July 2019, Cordae confirmed that he and Naomi Osaka were dating. Later that year, the rapper made his way to Flushing Meadows to watch the Japanese in action at the US Open, where she was the defending champion at the time. Fast forward to January 2023, and Osaka announced that she and Cordae were expecting a child. Six months later, the couple became parents to a baby daughter Shai.
Apart from being Cordae's partner, Naomi Osaka is also an avid fan of the rapper's music. She promoted 'The Crossroads' ahead of its release, and recently took to Instagram Stories to share her enthusiasm for the song "Don't Walk Away", which also features singer-songwriter Jordan Ward and singer Ravyn Lenae. The song, as its name suggests, is about a man urging his partner not to walk away from their relationship.
Osaka's post also featured the caption:
"You guys are so sleep on this song and I hate that for you"
Osaka recently enjoyed a vacation in the picturesque Cayman Islands and shared several stunning photos of herself, to which her boyfriend Cordae reacted.
Cordae shared his reaction to Naomi Osaka's stunning Cayman Islands photoshoot
Osaka spent the off-season in the scenic seaside beauty of the Cayman Islands in the western Caribbean Sea. The former World No. 1 also took part in a photoshoot during her visit to the British Overseas Territory, and later shared pictures from the shoot on her Instagram, captioning the post:
"Aesthetic"
The post prompted prominent tennis names such as Venus Williams and Taylor Townsend to drop their reactions. The four-time Major winner's boyfriend Cordae chimed in as well and the rapper's comment featured seven wave emojis.
On the tennis front, 2024 marked Osaka's comeback season after almost a year out on maternity leave. The Japanese looked rusty at times but managed to produce glimpses of her past brilliance occasionally. Her best performance of the season arguably came against Iga Swiatek in the second round of the French Open.
At the time, Swiatek was the World No. 1 and the overwhelming favorite to beat Osaka. However, the Japanese held firm and even had the opportunity to seal the match in her favor. The Pole though, wasn't to be denied, as she remarkably came back into the contest, won it, and eventually went on to clinch the French Open title for the fourth time.
