Nick Kyrgios is not shy to share his opinion on plenty of things and it's what got him into a bit of trouble in the past. Some of his comments were appreciated by a select few, some by the wider tennis audience. He recently shared another one which could produce a similar reaction because he doesn't really like a widely beloved tournament which many consider the greatest in tennis history.

Kyrgios was a guest on the Nothing Major podcast by former players John Isner, Sam Querrey and Jack Sock. Kyrgios talked with them in the most recent episode of that podcast where he declared that he doesn't really like Wimbledon though he failed to explain why he doesn't really like it.

"I'm sorry but like as an event, Wimbledon like as an event is not even that good in my opinion. I don't really like the setup. I don't like the cafe and stuff. US Open is my favourite... Wimbledon is insane. I just don't like... I don't know like I prefer the US Open. It's so simple: locker room, go upstairs, food. Wimbledon just not a fan of it... I just feel weird there." - Kyrgios on the Nothing Major Podcast (30:40)

The conversation was about events that the players don't like and while some named the Australian Open as the worst one of the four, others named Roland Garros. Kyrgios didn't really name Wimbledon as the worst one, but he just doesn't really enjoy it that much.

He did specify that the US Open was the one he likes the most because ultimately he just loves the US. He further stated that if he didn't live in Australia, he would simply live in the US.

Nick Kyrgios and Wimbledon

Funnily enough, the Australian has enjoyed the best moments of his career at Wimbledon. He famously loves to play on grass because the sport is rather simple on it and fast-paced, so he doesn't have to play long and tedious rallies. His serve is also powerful and does a lot of damage, which is why he's really good on it.

His only Grand Slam final came at Wimbledon in 2022 and he's had a few signature wins at the event as well, such as the one over Rafael Nadal years ago. Even so, there is simply something that doesn't jibe well with Kyrgios as he said in the podcast. It might be the event's traditional structure, which might clash with somebody as young as Kyrgios.
