Naomi Osaka asked United Airlines to find her lost bags, with the risk of missing out on the 2024 Cincinnati Open looming. The Japanese said that she needed to have her bags within a couple of days in order to compete in the WTA 1000 tournament.

After welcoming her daughter Shai last July, Osaka made her return to the court this year and has produced some promising performances so far. The four-time Grand Slam champion is currently competing in the North American hard-court swing, where she kicked off her campaign at the National Bank Open after receiving a wildcard.

The 26-year-old was off to a stunning start as ousted Ons Jabeur 6-3,6-1 in just an hour and 11 minutes. However, her campaign was ended in the next round by Elise Mertens, who secured a 6-3, 6-4 win in an hour and 31 minutes.

Next up on the WTA Tour for Naomi Osaka is the Cincinnati Open. However, an unfortunate incident occurred with her. The Japanese called on United Airlines to help her find her lost bags as she couldn't participate in the upcoming WTA 1000 event without them.

"Lol @united lost my bags and if I don’t get them tonight or tomorrow I literally can’t play Cincinati 😂😂😂," Osaka tweeted.

After her win against Ons Jabeur in the opening round of the National Bank Open, Naomi Osaka reiterated her love for hard courts during the press conference. She said how the surface gave her time to react and build up the point as opposed to grass.

The Japanese also felt that the reason she managed to do well on clay, a slower surface, was because of her liking towards building the point,

"I would never attack my treasured hard court (laughing). I would say my favorite thing about hard court, I don't know, it's fast, but it's not too fast. Like, I feel like on grass it's somehow a little bit reactive, and I obviously couldn't get used to that quick enough, but on hard it kind of gives me at least a second to, I guess, build up the point," Osaka said.
"I also feel like that might also be the reason why I did better on clay as opposed to grass, just because I do quite like building the point, so..," she added.

Naomi Osaka has won 17 out of 32 matches so far in 2024 and is currently ranked 95th in the world.
