"More and more impressed with Taylor Fritz, I don't think we give him enough credit" - Andy Roddick
During a recent episode of the 'Served with Andy Roddick' podcast, Roddick expressed his admiration for Taylor Fritz and his playing style, which, according to him, continues to grow as time goes by. The 42-year-old, who won the 2003 US Open, praised Fritz for his consistent effort on the court and his "sense of belief."
"I'm more and more impressed with Fritz. I don't think we give him enough credit, as just, the lunch-pail guy, he shows up every day and does his job. Like you never think of him, having an off-day, giving less than his best effort, playing without a sense of belief, mailing it in. I just have a lot of respect for the way Fritz goes about it,” Roddick said.
Ahead of his appearances at the 2024 Laver Cup and the Japan Open, Fritz had competed at the US Open, where he achieved his best result at any Grand Slam tournament to date. The 26-year-old reached the final, eventually losing to Jannik Sinner, who won his second Grand Slam title of his career and the season.
