Carlos Alcaraz's agent Albert Molina has spoken up about his work of managing the Spaniard's communications with the outside world. Molina laid bare how a part of his work in Alcaraz's team involves keeping opportunists away from the three-time Grand Slam winner.

Alcaraz, still only 21, is already a tennis superstar due to his meteoric rise in the men's game over the last couple of years. The Spaniard, widely regarded as one of the players who will dominate men's tennis going forward, shot to fame in 2022 with his maiden Grand Slam title triumph at the US Open. More success on the Major stage followed at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, where he defeated Novak Djokovic to win the title.

More recently, Alcaraz won the first French Open title of his career on Sunday, June 9. The Spaniard came out on top against Alexander Zverev in the final, winning 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. In doing so, Alcaraz achieved multiple milestones, as his reputation continues to grow rapidly.

Unsurprisingly, this has led to a situation where interest in the Spaniard from both individuals and businesses has skyrocketed. As the World No. 2's agent, Molina is tasked with keeping a check on who gets through to Alcaraz and who does not.

In a recent appearance on El Partizado de COPE podcast, Molina expressed that one of the worst parts of his job in the Spaniard's camp is to reject communications with interested parties.

"One of the worst parts of my job has to do with rejecting communication with some people or sectors interested in Alcaraz. Not only with interested people who sign up at the moment and want to talk or be close to Carlos at that moment," Molina said. (translated from Spanish)

Alcaraz's agent also spoke on their collective approach to handling the Spaniard's personal calls.

"We cut off personal calls unless he says that one is really important. Opportunists have no option to talk to him," Molina added.

Molina went on to jokingly say that there surely are female callers whose information Alcaraz keeps confidential.

"There are people who don't go through me. I'm sure there will also be some female calls we didn't find out," he said.

Alcaraz has chosen to take a few days off in Ibiza before kickstarting his 2024 grasscourt season at the Cinch Championships at The Queen's Club. Molina, who is not accompanying the Spaniard to the Mediterranean Island, told El Partizado de COPE that he is worried about people with malicious intent who may jeopardize the Spaniard's reputation.

"I know that the problem is that Carlos is very noble, it is not because of Carlos but because of the people he may have by his side and not because of his friends because they are good people. But hey, when you expose yourself so much outside, there are always people with a phone who can record something that may be taken out of context or may not be reality as it is," Molina said.

The Cinch Championships will commence on Saturday, June 15. Alcaraz would be hopeful of using the ATP 500 tournament as a platform to prepare for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The three-time Major winner is the defending champion at both tournaments.
