Coco Gauff expressed discontent over once again bringing up the bathroom demonstration video of her outfit, which she had shared a few days ago. The American was seemingly awkward during an interview following her win over Canada's Leylah Fernandez at the Australian Open.
On Monday, January 13, Gauff shared an Instagram story to address fans' curiosity about her outfit. She demonstrated the supposed challenges of using the bathroom in it, only to find that it wasn’t as difficult as she had expected.
Gauff was praised for her bright yellow New Balance outfit during the interview. When asked about its comfort, the 20-year-old playfully mentioned that she had shared a video demonstrating how she used the restroom. Realizing she had revealed too much, Gauff laughed and quickly apologized to the crowd.
"A lot of people were wondering how I use the bathroom in it… so I posted a video on IG. Not actually demonstrating but you get the idea. Okay that was TMI. I am sorry guys," she said.
Moreover, the 2023 US Open champion took to X to acknowledge her embarrassment over the comments made during the interview.
"Definitely embarrassed myself with my on court interview today…" she wrote.
The 20-year-old shared an Instagram story featuring her interview.
"I yap too much I just need to shut up. I'm sorry this was embarrassing," she wrote.
Coco Gauff through to 4R of Australian Open 2025 after win over Leylah Fernandez
Coco Gauff is enjoying a dominant run at the 2025 Australian Open, and like in her previous two matches, everything went according to plan in the third round against Leylah Fernandez.
The American faced little to no trouble against the Canadian, winning the first set 6-4 and the second 6-2 to advance to the fourth round of the season's first Grand Slam.
After the match, Gauff shared why facing Fernandez presents a challenge.
“I think it’s harder (to face Fernandez again), because she knows what to expect. She played differently than she did at the United Cup,” Gauff told the media.
"It’s also harder because you’re trying to change up from the last time. She’s a great competitor and a great person, so I knew it would be a tough match regardless," she added.
The American remains undefeated this season, with eight wins to her name and will look to maintain her momentum as she progresses further in the tournament. Gauff's next opponent will be Belinda Bencic, who advanced after Naomi Osaka retired due to an abdominal injury while trailing 7-6(3).
