Andy Murray recently shared the hilarious details about the celebrations following his 2016 Wimbledon win. He also mentioned that his memories of the night were a bit fuzzy.

After withdrawing from the 2024 cinch Championships due to an injury, Murray underwent surgery on his back. The former World No.1, who is expected to retire after the 2024 Paris Olympics, also pulled out of the singles event at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.

Despite not competing in singles matches, Murray accepted a wildcard to play doubles with his brother Jamie. However, their doubles campaign was short-lived, as they were defeated by the Australian pair of Rinky Hijikata and John Peers 7-6(6), 6-4 in one hour and 28 minutes in the first round.

After the match, Andy Murray received a standing ovation and a long applause from the spectators at Centre Court. British broadcaster Sue Barker, who had retired from her presenting role after the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, came back to pay tribute to the former World No.1 on Centre Court and also interviewed him.

During his on-court conversation with Barker, Murray relived his 2016 Wimbledon triumph, where he had defeated Milos Raonic in the final. He stated that the win was different from his 2013 Wimbledon victory as he felt "less pressure." The former World No.1 shared that he celebrated his win with close family and friends that evening.

"Yeah, 2016 was really, it was different. I felt way less pressure and the enjoyment I got out of that win was totally different to 2013. I had an amazing evening that night with all my friends and family, properly went out and enjoyed it with the people closest to me," Andy Murray said.

Murray then admitted that he doesn't remember much from the night due to having a few drinks. However, he vividly remembers vomiting in a cab on his way home after the celebrations.

"Yeah, 2016 was, of the Slams, my favourite one. I don’t remember much of that night (laughs). I had a few drinks and I did unfortunately vomit in the cab on the way home," he added.
